The Mission of Peace Partnership International is forging partnerships with and among government, civil society, and business, to catalyze the transformation from a culture of violence to a culture of peace throughout the world.
Partnership Model
In all our operations, we seek opportunities to build working partnerships, strategic alliances, and healthy relationships with and among individuals and organizations in civil society, government, and business, recognizing that such partnerships and healthy relationships are essential for and thus the norm in a sustainable and vibrant culture of peace.
Major Initiatives
Peace Partnership International’s strategic focus is developing capacity for a culture of peace, for which we are forging partnerships and undertaking the following three initiatives to most effectively leverage our resources for pivotal transformation:
Establishment of a National Peace Academy
Development of youth leadership for a culture of peace
Promoting structures in government at all levels that support and encourage a culture of peace
a. Participate in and help grow the Global Alliance for Ministries and Departments of Peace, including:

their respective governments that support a culture of peace – for

many others
Forging alliances with groups working to promote peace structures in
government – for example, Global Partnership for the Prevention of
Armed Conflict, 3-D Initiative, Alliance for Peacebuilding, Asian Study
Center for Peace and Conflict Transformation, and many others
b. Engage with the United Nations, including:
In our official status as a NGO associated with the UN Department of Public Information
Working with colleagues at the UN for a General Assembly resolution
calling for culture-of-peace structures in member state governments
History
Peace Partnership International began life in 2000 as the Global Renaissance Alliance, with the purpose to educate the public about current events, to bring about civic betterment and social improvement, and to promote the common good and general welfare of the community. In January 2005, the organization officially changed its name to The Peace Alliance Foundation. In November 2007, in order to better reflect our expanded scope to catalyze and participate in applied peacebuilding globally and to forge partnerships for peace with government, civil society, and business, our name changed again, to Peace Partnership International.
Context
We recognize that the world is interconnected and that everything influences the whole. As a consequence, there is no “them and us.” There is only us, and the welfare of others, indeed of all life, is our own welfare.
Therefore, we must seek ways to consciously connect and build a culture of peace with nonviolence and cooperation as organizing principles. Indeed, all our systems of foreign policy, education, politics, business, health, and social welfare can and must be united in seeking, teaching, and living peace.
Already, peacebuilding and conflict transformation technologies are being developed and put into practice around the world in a wide range of conflict situations within and between countries. The time has come to educate ourselves and help create the necessary infrastructure for peace in our culture.
Peace Partnership International is dedicated to making our shared value of peaceful co-existence a reality. We recognize that the seeds of such a culture already exist and that the principles and the processes of peace are of paramount importance to the development of a sustainable and productive future.
The Peace Alliance Foundation Program Report describes the activities and accomplishments of the Peace Alliance Foundation (now Peace Partnership International) over the fiscal year August 2005-July 2006.
